Nowlin Students ‘Skyping’ With TV Meteorologist to Learn More About Weather
Nowlin Middle School students in Chariti Farmer’s Functional Skills class get to learn about weather face-to-face with one of Kansas City’s most well-known television forecasters. Farmer and her students will be ‘Skyping’ with KMBC9 Meteorologist Erin Little Tuesday, February 10.
“It’s going to be interesting and exciting,” Farmer said.
Her sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students have spent the past several weeks learning about the weather and using Channel 9’s website to track Little’s forecasts. They have been comparing her daily outlook with the actual weather conditions. Farmer said it has been fun and educational, but the students are really looking forward to asking the TV forecaster one-on-one questions.
“They really want to know things like what tools does she use to make her daily predictions and more importantly, what it’s like to be a TV meteorologist,” Farmer said.
