Santa Fe Trail Puts Best Foot (Feet) Forward During Walk-A-Thon
If some Santa Fe Trail Elementary students have sore feet, you can understand why! During the school’s Walk-A-Thon, students raised almost $5,000, one step at a time! “The students were challenged to help raise funds and they really came through,” said Liz Mueller, fourth-grade teacher.
Money raised goes toward school field trips, class celebrations and opportunities for students through the PTA (Parent Teacher Association). “This is our big yearly PTA fundraiser,” Mueller said.
Individual students raising the most money enjoyed some special perks. Mueller said the top four fundraisers school-wide participated in a banner presentation to kick off the walk and two lucky fifth-graders got to turn the teacher of their choice into an ice cream sundae. “They definitely have skills in decorating,” she said.
Community business partners provided invaluable support and a variety of prizes including a tablet, a scooter and amusement park passes.
“Walk-A-Thon season at Santa Fe Trail Elementary is always a great time,” Mueller said. “We really want to thank all those who donated.”
