Southern Science Fun

More than 300 families enjoyed William Southern Elementary Science/Family Activity Night October 8, participating in a variety of science-based activities. Fourth-grade teacher John Amos marveled a packed gymnasium crowd by demonstrating the chemical changes made when dry ice meets dish soap. Several other experiments and projects forced students and adults alike to use critical thinking skills. Participants built toothpick bridges- strong enough to hold a domino, played ‘cracker madness,- where students moved a cracker from their forehead without their hands and ‘stacker madness,’ where participants were given one minute to build and take down a 21 cup pyramid.

“It was a really fun and really educational night,” said Cindy Smith, Southern’s music teacher.
