‘Vision Van’ Set Sights on ISD
Nearly 200 ISD students now have a much clearer view of the world around them, thanks to LINC, the Local Investment Commission and OneSight, a worldwide organization providing access to quality vision care. OneSight brought their ‘Vision Van’ to the ISD November 4, providing free eye examinations and free eyeglasses to students in need.
“This is such a great service LINC and One Sight is providing,” said Jennifer Manuleleua, the LINC site coordinator for Fairmount, Mallinson and Sugar Creek Elementary. “What a great day!”
Students were examined by eye care professionals during two hour blocks and, if they were needed, glasses were provided almost immediately.
“Corrected vision is vital to a student’s academic success in school,” said Lori Halsey, the district’s director of health services. “We were excited to partner with LINC and OneSight to bring this fantastic opportunity to our students.”
LINC is a non-profit organization working with numerous local and state entities to improve the lives of children and families across the Kansas City area. LINC has partnered with the ISD since 1994. OneSight has served more than nine million people in 41 countries since its founding in 1988.
