Independence Schools Show Major Gains in APR

The Independence School District is proud to announce significant growth on the Annual Performance Report. Our academic growth over the last year shows the largest gain of any school district in the state (having 10,000+ students).  The ISD scored 125 out of 140 points for 89.3 percent.  That is an increase from 80 percent last year and up from 73.2 percent the previous year.  ISD Superintendent Dr. Dale Herl commented on ISD’s academic achievement, “Our students improved at such a high rate compared to the rest of the state that we received additional growth points.  I’m extremely proud of the hard work of our staff and students. Our score of 92.9 percent in academic achievement is the highest in district history and highlights the focus on rigor and relevance in our classrooms.”

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) released the data. The Annual Performance Report combines MAP scores with five performance standards (academic achievement, attendance, college and career readiness, graduation rate and subgroup achievement) to show how districts are meeting state standards.
