ISD Students in Mentoring Program Visit Great Plains SPCA
Posted November 15, 2016
ISD students who are part of a special peer-to-peer mentoring program had the opportunity to learn more about SPCA and its impact on animals and our community. The local Girl Talk Chapter visited the Independence animal shelter for a community service project. During the visit, students delivered chew toys that were handmade by each girl. They also took a tour and learned more about volunteer opportunities.
Girl Talk is a peer-to-peer mentoring program where Truman High School girls meet weekly with Pioneer Ridge Middle School girls. Girl Talk’s mission is to help young teenage girls build self-esteem, develop leadership skills and recognize the value of community service.
