Glendale Celebrates 30 Years with Japanese Sister School

More than 30 delegates from Higashimurayama, Japan visited the Independence School District, celebrating 30 years of friendship between Glendale and Megurita Elementary as Sister Schools. ISD students greeted their guests with American and Japanese flags, a friendship bridge and special performances. Glendale is the only elementary school in the United States paired with an elementary sister school.

Every year, representatives from each city spend an entire day at the schools, exchanging letters, smiles and learning about the culture and everyday life from across the globe.
