Five ISD Schools Receive Makeover During Project Shine
ISD teachers, students, administrators and volunteers from Independence businesses, churches and civic organizations spent their Saturday, June 18th cleaning, painting and beautifying five ISD schools during Project Shine. This year, volunteers spruced up Mill Creek Elementary, Randall Elementary, Spring Branch Elementary, Three Trails Elementary and Van Horn High School thanks to the generosity of the Independence community.
Project Shine began with the annexation of six schools from Kansas City to the Independence School District. An emergency clean-up of those schools was necessary to get them ready for students. The impressive community support and that volunteer spirit helped Project Shine become an annual event.
