In August 2023, Independence voters passed a levy ballot measure that will give all Independence School District employees a raise beginning in the 2024-2025 school year.

“We’re doing everything we can do in today’s environment to attract the best in every facet of our school district,” says Board of Education President Eric Knipp.

“Having over 70% voter approval on that is very positive because it shows not only that they support us but they also trust us,” says Board of Education Director Denise Fears.

“We can say, ‘Hey, you’re doing a job that matters, and we want to make sure that you don’t have to worry about the compensation piece of that,’” says Board of Education Director Greg Finke.
