Independence, MO – The Independence School District (ISD) is thrilled to announce that the district has earned an 80% score on the Annual Performance Report (APR), marking another major milestone in our journey of excellence. This achievement is a direct result of the hard work and dedication of our students and families, staff, and community.

Superintendent Dr. Dale Herl shared his excitement in a recent statement: “I am so proud and excited to share with you this incredible news. This 80% score is a testament to the efforts we have all made together to ensure that every student succeeds.”

Reflecting on the district’s growth, Dr. Herl added, “Last year, we were one of only two school districts in Jackson County to see an increase in our APR. And this year, we are proud to be one of only two districts in the Kansas City Metro Area whose APR has increased each of the last three years.”

The APR score is more than just a number – it signifies the district’s commitment to providing a supportive and thriving environment for all students. Dr. Herl attributed much of the success to the district’s adoption of a four-day school week, which has allowed students and teachers to better balance their academic and personal lives, leading to more productive and engaged learning.

“This accomplishment is a reflection of our collective efforts, and I am so grateful for everyone who has contributed to making ISD a place where students can thrive,” said Dr. Herl.

As we look ahead, the district remains focused on continuing this progress and providing the best possible education for all students.

Thank you to everyone – students, teachers, staff, and the entire community – for your hard work and support. Together, we are make ISD a great place for learning and growth.
