The ISD is excited to announce the newest members of and upcoming changes to our district administrative team: Ms. Amy Chappell, Mr. Kevin Lathrom, Dr. Brett Playter.

Ms. Chappell is currently working as the Assistant Director of Special Services here in the ISD. Ms. Sherry Potter is retiring from her role as Director of Special Services at the end of this school year. Ms. Potter leaves behind a great legacy in our district. Her unwavering commitment, kindness, and passion for education have made a lasting impact on students, colleagues, and families alike. As Mrs. Potter embarks on this well-deserved new chapter, we extend our deepest gratitude for her contributions and dedication, and we welcome Ms. Chappell to lead the Special Services Department. Ms. Chappell was recognized for 25 years of service with the ISD at Convocation in 2023.

Mr. Kevin Lathrom is currently one of two Directors of Human Resources in the ISD; he serves the classified staff. Previous to that role, he served as District Compliance Officer and Principal of Three Trails Elementary. He has accepted the position of Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education, which will be vacated with the retirement of Ms. Leslie Hochsprung. Ms. Hochsprung began her career with the ISD in 2008, where she worked as Principal at Thomas Hart Benton Elementary before moving into her current role in 2022. She has been an incredible mentor to so many around her during her time with the ISD, and her many adoring colleagues will be long-remembered by her tireless efforts and impact. Her kind spirit and calm demeanor will be missed.

Dr. Brett Playter has accepted the position of Director of Human Resources, Classified Staff. Dr. Playter began his career with the ISD as a middle school math teacher, serving Bridger Middle School. Before assuming his current role as District Compliance Officer in 2024, he was the principal of Bingham Middle School. We are looking forward to the experience and work ethic he will bring to his leadership role.

Please join us in celebrating Sherry Potter and Leslie Hochsprung’s retirements and wishing them both joy, relaxation, and fulfillment in all their future adventures. We are grateful for their leadership within our district.

Each of these administrators begins their new roles with the ISD on July 1, 2025.
