ISDF Gala Raises More Than $100,000 For ISD Students

It was Chiefs-like, game day excitement inside the Arrowhead Club, only the cheers were for the ISD, not Kansas City’s favorite football team. More than $100,000 was raised during this year’s Connecting Hearts Gala fundraiser for the Independence School District Foundation (ISDF). Money raised during the March 19 event goes toward a variety of ISDF programs including providing need-based funding and services for ISD students and families.

“I can’t thank our patrons enough for being so generous,” said Alli Kisner, ISDF director. “We had a wonderful evening featuring gourmet food stations, raffles, silent and live auctions and entertainment.”

More than 400 ISDF supporters bid on a variety of live auction items including a suite for 20 to see the World Series Champion Kansas City Royals, a week-long stay at Sea World in Florida and several personalized culinary experiences.

Numerous local businesses and individuals contributed to the success of the event including foundation benefactors Missouri EdCounsel and Major Saver, foundation supporters Cornell Roofing & Sheet Metal, Truman Medical Center- Lakewood, Healthstat, Inc. and Lippert Mechanical Service Corporation and foundation partners ACI-Boland Architects, BAYER, BMO Harris Bank, CBIZ, Centerpoint Medical Center, Central States Bus Sales, Inc., Commerce Bank, Drumm Farm Center for Children, Epoxy Coating Specialists, Inc., George K. Established nearly 20 years ago, the ISDF’s mission is to expand educational opportunities for students and staff and promote volunteerism. In recent years, the foundation has spread its helping hand throughout the Independence community.
