Seven ISD Students Place at DECA State Contest

Four students from William Chrisman High School and three students from Truman High School placed in the top three in their category at the DECA State Career Development Conference. Approximately 2,000 students from across the state competed in various business and marketing events from March 12-14. During the competition, students were asked to solve a problem or create a business plan to present to the judges.

Chrisman High School students Ethan Douglas and Sam Wimberley took third place in Sports and Entertainment Team Decision Making. Parker LaRoche and Trey Stout raised $2,688 for the Mason Atagi Scholarship Fund and placed third in the Community Service Project event.

Truman High School students Shelby Fordham and Savannah Hawley won first place in Business Law and Ethics Team Decision Making, and Lorinda Ruz received second place in Human Resources Management.

The top three individuals or teams in each category qualified to attend the International Career Development Conference in Anaheim next month. The ICDC is a great opportunity for students to learn, network with business partners and expand their view of business while competing and participating in leadership workshops.
