ISD Students Celebrate Kindness Week

Students across the district are spreading kindness in their schools and our community in celebration of ISD Kindness Week!

Benton Elementary students created more than 450 valentines for patients at Centerpoint Medical Center. Listen as first-grade students share their letters of love and encouragement here.

Mill Creek Elementary students are collecting supplies and donations for chemo care bags. Those bags will go to people who are battling cancer, including Mill Creek principal, Lindsey Miller. Our thoughts are with her as she begins her chemo treatment. Take a look at their kindness featured on KMBC here.

Korte Elementary students celebrated kindness with Spirit Week, recognizing students of character, displaying acts of kindness in the hallways and writing letters to residents at a local nursing home. Listen to their wonderful letters here.

Students at Pioneer Ridge Middle School wrote letters to hospitalized children to share happy messages and words of encouragement. Listen to these seventh-grade students spread kindness into their community here.

William Southern Elementary students decorated paper grocery bags to be distributed at Hy-Vee in celebration of Kindness Week! Students wrote uplifting messages and drew colorful pictures to spread smiles and kindness throughout the community. Each member of the Southern Belles was paired with a “Mini Belle” to mentor throughout Kindness Week. The Belles check in with each other every morning and spend time getting to know each other throughout the week.

The Independence School District’s youngest learners also celebrated kindness! Students at Hanthorn made cards for each resident at Independence Manor Care Center to spread joy throughout the community. Students at Sunshine Early Education Center displayed acts of kindness on a Kindness Tree.

Van Horn High School students kicked off the week by visiting students at Sugar Creek Elementary! The high school students emphasized the importance of being kind and even created a “happiness tunnel” for students to walk through on their way to class.

Blackburn Elementary celebrated Kindness Week with a game of Kindness Bingo! Students completed their bingo cards by performing acts of kindness around the school.

Students at Little Blue Elementary created a Kind Hearts chain to celebrate Kindness Week! Students wrote down ways to be kind at school on paper hearts, creating a chain of kindness to be displayed for the rest of the school year. Students also wrote notes of love and encouragement inside books to donate to children

Students at Bryant Elementary completed kindness projects in their classrooms each day of Kindness Week. Students illustrated the projects to share with the rest of the school.

Students at Fairmount Elementary are completing acts of kindness all week long, contributing to the “heart” of their school.

Glendale Elementary Student Council members filled the hallways with kindness by decorating posters to promote the importance of being kind and always doing the right thing.

Students at Luff Elementary created Kindness Grams to send to other students throughout the building and displayed acts of kindness on their Kindness Tree, promoting kindness and unity throughout the building.

Mallinson Elementary students began each day with a kindness quote. Classrooms worked together to complete acts of kindness to contribute to the school’s Kindness Chain throughout the week.

Students and staff at Ott Elementary completed Kindness Bingo to earn a spot on their Kindness Tree. Students were encouraged to complete as many Bingo games as they could throughout the week. For each completed game, students traced their hand on the Kindness Tree displayed in the front of the school.

Procter Elementary student council members created Kindness Bags for every student and staff member. Each morning, students wrote positive messages to other students and staff members and place the messages in the Kindness Bags. At the end of the week, students receive their personal Kindness Bags filled with positive, uplifting messages.

Students at Randall Elementary begin each day with a Kindness Challenge to complete before the end of the day. Students also partnered with William Chrisman to illustrate a letter written by a high school student to a local veteran.

Sante Fe Elementary students visit the Kindness Station during recess to write a positive message to be delivered to other students throughout the week.

Students at Spring Branch Elementary celebrated Kindness Week by creating a paper chain made up of kind deeds linked together to be displayed at school.

Bingham Middle School students began each day with a kindness quote. Students also organized a Pennies for Patients fundraiser to collect money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Students at Sycamore Hills Elementary organized a food drive to collect food and other items to help local families in need.

Each class at Independence Academy developed a school improvement project to promote kindness. Students document the progress of their project through photos and videos to display in the hallways.
