Will your student need care Before and/or After School Care — or — on Non-School Days?

The Independence School District offers the Kids’ Safari program, which provides comprehensive care options to support our families.

  • Before and After School Care: Available for Pre-K, Elementary, and Middle School students, ensuring a safe and engaging environment outside regular school hours. This is offered at most ISD schools. You may drop off your student BEFORE school begins beginning at 6:30 a.m. — and/or — pick them up AFTER the school dismissal bell rings, up until 6 p.m.
    Enrollment information: http://sites.isdschools.org/before_and_after_school/index

  • Non-School Day Care: Also called Full-Day Care — this provided on most Non-School days: this refers to Snow Days (K-8 care only) and Mondays (the ISD does not have school on most Mondays, as we are on a four-day school week schedule).
    Enrollment information: http://sites.isdschools.org/before_and_after_school/index

For more detailed information, including program specifics and enrollment procedures, please visit the Kids’ Safari Program Page.

Are you interested in sending your incoming Kindergartener to summer school before Kindergarten starts in the Fall?

Your incoming kindergarten student is eligible to attend Summer Success — this is the summer school program here in the ISD. Learn more about our summer school program by visiting the Summer Success Page.

  • Register for the 2025-26 school year: to enroll for Summer Success, you must first enroll your student for the 2025-26 school year. Make sure to do that online, beginning in March: https://registration.isdschools.org/

  • Register for 2025 Summer Success: you will register your student online, on the same page where you enrolled them for the school year: https://registration.isdschools.org/.
The Summer Success registration window is March 6 – April 25.

    • June: Summer Success is from May 28 – June 27. It follows the same four-day school week schedule as the regular school year, which means school is in session Tuesdays – Fridays (with one exception: school is in session on Monday, June 16, and there is no school on Thursday, June 19).

      — Kids’ Safari Before and After School care is available.
      Enrollment information: http://sites.isdschools.org/before_and_after_school/index

      — Full-Day care is available on Mondays (Monday Fun Days) and on any Non-School day. This is available for Pre-K – 8th grade.
